Chip is our newest basset hound. He was born on December 18th, 2009. He came to live with us on February 13th. Chip comes from a breeder in Sterling, Michigan, Up North Bassets. They were great to work with.
Chip is completely different than Quincy personality wise. He is very outgoing, but much lazier than she was at this age. He is boisterous and he’s pretty sure he’s the most important thing in any situation. It has been easier to teach him recall, but more difficult to teach him to lay down (Quincy’s favorite command).
When Chip first came to our home, it was too cold out for him to be in the outdoor kennel. Luckily, we had a friend willing to do dog walking duties for a while. This really jumpstarted his housetraining and he is doing quite well.
Well, more to come on Chip as we get to know him and learn more about him.
