Another Wounded Toad

So, previously we had seen a diseased or injured toad in our yard, now we found this guy. He obviosly was squished or somehow harmed, but he seemed to be dealing with the injury. It was like his intestines were outside of his body but still working. We ended up letting him go. Perhaps he was struck by a snake or some other predator.  We observed him eating and acting otherwise normally.  Other than the obvious wound, it did not have any other strange or uncommon markings of any kind.

Summer Toad Photo & a Cool Insect

Here’s a nice summer toad photo. We haven’t been home as much as in previous year’s and have not seen as many toads, but they are still around.  Toad

We are growing a few container vegetables this year and I spotted this very well camouflaged insect recently.

Can you spot the insect?  Do you know what kind it is? I wasn’t sure, but am pretty sure it is in the group they call Leaf Hoppers.

American Toad

Above is an American toad in the yard, near the side door.  We’ve been seeing a few toads this year, but not a lot too close to the house yet.  Steve has seen some while mowing.

Here’s the toad along with measurement information.
